Welcome to LICADHO’s livestream, where we will share IHRD celebrations in the provinces and Phnom Penh.
Groups have been celebrating IHRD since December 6. Events got underway on Sunday in Pursat and Kampong Chhnang, and yesterday saw celebrations in Battambang, Sihanoukville and Banteay Meanchey, as well as the first day of a three-day march starting in Oral, Kampong Speu.
Celebrations on 6 December - Siem Reap
In Siem Reap, BWTUC held a public forum on the impact of the Trade Union Law.

Celebrations on 7 December - Sihanoukville
Yesterday, over 800 people joined the Sihanoukville event, which included a public forum and a tuk tuk rally, organised primarily by the Independent Democracy of Informal Economy Association (IDEA). Communities and local NGOs joined local authorities to celebrate with speeches, balloons and singing and dancing.

Celebrations on 7 December - Battambang
Over 400 people celebrated in Battambang, led by Boung Pram community representative Mr.Chann Chany. LICADHO, ADHOC, Banteay Srey, IDEA, and the UN also joined the celebrations.
The group marched from Battambang’s Dragon Statue round the city, and held a public forum on human rights issues:

Kampong Speu 3-day March - December 7
Meanwhile, about 200 marchers in Kampong Speu covered the first of a three days’ march. Among the 200 are 36 indigenous Souy, all from Oral district, who have been affected by landgrabs connected to LYP Group (owned by CPP Senator Ly Yong Phat) and HLH Agriculture Company.

December 8 celebrations - Siem Reap
Siem Reap held its second IHRD celebration this morning, as 700 people from grassroots groups, unions, associations and NGOs joined a tuk tuk procession from Banteay Srey community, Skun community, Tarpen community, Tarny community and Romchek community, and others to Angkor Kyung Yu, where they held a public forum to to discuss human rights issues with speeches by IDEA, NGOs and community representatives, the provincial governor, judges, and Apsara authorities.
